Today saw me out of my normal Fairprice / NTUC / Jumbo supermarket rounds and at the Pasir Panjang Wholesale market, courtesy of my dear friend who's been going to a lot of trouble making me feel at home here in SG and showing me all her secrets. (Apologies for the photos, taken with the i-phone as I wasn't thinking and planning ahead enough to take a proper camera). The market it rather fun and the produce way fresher and a lot cheaper than the supermarkets. And a good excuse to take pictures again.
Produce arrives in the big containers and gets shunted around with high speed forklift trucks driven by the cool guys -
honestly, if you're young and cool looking and a speed merchant you get to drive one, otherwise you're just a trader or an auctioneer or once you're long in the tooth and bald of head you sort the fresh from the stale.
All the scales seemed to be from Vietnam - interesting, didn't know that was their core competency ...

Not sure of the relevance of a surfboard in a dry good store - maybe washed up in the same container ...

My office is 3rd to the left behind the cabbages ...
Nope, I didn't know that a clean apple is grown in Bonghwa either ...

That is a fantastic montage up top. Really vivid colors and nice variety of shapes and textures.
PS: If you feel like a weekend in Penang sometime in the next 11 weeks, just let me know! George Town is a cozy little place.
